Efficiency is key:  We will take a look at basic ways to make your house more comfortable throughout the year with a special focus on the upcoming winter months. Some topics we will cover include air sealing, insulation, windows, heating and cooling systems, with a brief focus on renewable energy and winterization of second homes. This will be followed by a question and answer session so come prepared!

We are Family: Celebrating with Pride

Terry A. Davis.  The second annual Blue Ridge Pride and Unitarian Universalist Association Sunday coincide this weekend. What does it mean to be a family of faith that honors the inherent worth and dignity of every person regardless of their sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression?  Unitarian Universalist Minister Terry Davis explores how our wider movement is “Standing on the Side of Love” for LGBT persons and all families – and why it is especially important to support the work of the UUA as we approach our 50th year as a liberal religious movement.

Upcoming Sunday Service

Dale Barrington and Becky Thorndike

Have you heard the story of “Rock Soup?” Imagine a group of people that were hungry but had nothing to eat or no way to eat. Some gathered in the park and one said,” I have only a pot to cook with but no food to put in it.” Another stated, “I have a potato but no pot to cook it in, I can share my potato with you.” “I too, cannot cook chicken that I have.” People at once began naming food that they could contribute to the pot.  People ran off in different direction and came back with utensils, the huge pot and all the ingredients and laid them on a huge rock. Once put together they had a huge pot that was full of soup, Rock Soup. Moral of the story: We all have something to share and when we mix our gifts, we flourish.

After the service, come downstairs for coffee and see UUFF gift mix in action!

The Language of Music

In this service we use music to lead the congregation on a journey through a variety of emotions and images.

Sunday, August 4, 2019 - 12:00pm

This Sunday is our regular monthly potluck lunch after the service.  Bring a dish to share, as you are able, and join in the convivial conversation.

The "gift mix" tables from last Sunday are still in place as well, so if you missed those last week, be sure and use this time to get to know how members are coming together to build our truly lay-led fellowship.

Sunday, August 4, 2019 - 1:30pm
Community Quilt Project after potluck

For the next meeting, please bring in some fabric pieces that you are fond of and would be suitable for use in a 12 inch square, keeping in mind that each block could reflect an aspect of our UU community and even the larger community.

Spirituality Discussion: Your Song

At last Sunday’s service Eric sang a song he wrote upon his dad’s passing.  This Sunday’s Spirituality Discussion topic will be: Your Song - What would people write about at your passing or about a major event in your life or what would you want them to write about?

All are welcome to participate in these open sessions on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 9:30-10:30 before service.  All comments are welcome and opinions are respected.  It is important to formulate one’s own ideas, gain insights from others and participate in dialog to better get to know each other.
