UUFF Retreat – Mon, Oct 14th

We’re planning a one-day retreat at The Mountain this Fall for UUFF members and friends. It will include lunch, social hour, dinner and two workshops. Our friends from the Brevard congregation will be holding their retreat and we can meet them during social hour and meals. The price is $65 for the day with any extra funds to provide scholarships. Our workshops will be in the Great Room in the lodge.
This is the tentative schedule:

  • 10-12: Build Your Own Theology
  • Noon: Lunch
  • 1:30-3:00: Where Could We Go From Here?
  • 3:30-4:30 Tour options
  • 4:30-6:00: Happy Hour (or tour)
  • 6:00: Dinner
  • Building Your Own Theology (BYOT abbreviated)
    Robby Greenberg & Donn Erickson will faciliate a disussion on what we’ve valued from our religions of origin that we’ve brought to UU.
    • Intro to workshop: sharing personal experiences and thoughts, be concise, be respectful, open oneself to the group, etc.
      • Autobiography: each person lists their spiritual sources (church, scouts, organizations, respected person, readings, etc.) what was gleaned from each and what was shed from each.
      • Share Autobiographies
      •  Inspirational Readings from text: either prior assignment or in session reading.
      • Create Personal Credo
      • Share Personal Credos
      • Session Summary
  • Where Do We Go From Here? Robby Greenberg, Bonnie Gramlich, & Mary Teslow will provide information and lead a discussion. At our last annual meeting we voted in favor of the 7 Principles and against the proposed Values and Flower. At General Assembly, 80% voted to approve the Values.  We’ll brainstorm options for the Fellowship going forward.
