Speaker: Dr. Mike Cordle

Dr. Mike Cordle is a retired United Methodist minister whose career has spanned over five decades of leadership in ministry, education, hospice chaplaincy, campus ministry (West Georgia College), and community service. He served as a pastor in the North Georgia Conference from 1962 to 2001 and taught as an adjunct professor at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology for nearly twenty years. His ministry has been marked by a deep commitment to inclusion of all people, outreach, and church growth.

Following his parish ministry, Dr. Cordle brought his pastoral skills into hospice care, serving as Chaplain with AseraCare Hospice, Atlanta and Hospice of the Golden Isles, Brunswick/St. Simons Island, providing compassionate spiritual care for patients and families during life’s most difficult transitions. He also held leadership roles in the nonprofit and marketing sectors, including serving as Executive Vice President of Niche Marketing Company.

An active leader in both church and community, Dr. Cordle has chaired or served on over 40 boards and agencies, including Indivisible Highlands, AID Atlanta, Project Open Hand, Atlanta Interfaith AIDS Network, AIDs Resource Council, and the North Georgia United Methodist AIDS Ministry. He also served with the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, The Ambassadors of the Brunswick Chamber of Commerce, Glynn County Alzheimer’s Association, Murphy-Harpst Children’s Home, Mountain Top Boy’s Home, and numerous ministerial associations. His dedication to service and justice has been recognized with honors such as the Dan Bradley Humanitarian Award from the Human Rights Campaign, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition from Rotary International, and the Denman Evangelism Award from the United Methodist Church.

Dr. Cordle earned his Doctor of Ministry from the University of Chicago’s Theological Center at McCormick Theological Seminary, his Master of Divinity from Emory University, Candler School of Theology and his B.A. in Social Science from Berry College.

Today, Dr. Cordle continues to inspire through preaching, teaching, writing, mentoring, and embodying a lifelong commitment to faith, leadership, and inclusion.

Dr. Cordle has been married to Kandyss Cordle for 23 years and has four children and five grandchildren.
