Leading By Example: Stetson Kennedy, Woody Guthrie, and Social Justice

Paul Garfinkel will use music and words to introduce the listener to Florida social justice warrior Stetson Kennedy, whose life, books, and dramatic personal action helped to bring awareness to social inequities across five decades, including doing devastating damage to the Ku Klux Klan. Kennedy maintained a close personal relationship with American troubadour Woody Guthrie, who used his facility with words and music to spark awareness of the plight of the downtrodden, from the Okie refugees of the dust bowl era to the migrant latino field workers of the California fields. Together they have left us a shining legacy of what can be accomplished in a world of harsh realities.
