Around the world, a telephone sits in a quiet place. It has no wires, no service, and no one answers at the other end. And yet people pick up its receiver and speak.
Born in Japan, wind phones have created a place for the words we still want to say to someone who is no longer here. Sometimes there are words left unsaid—or words we simply want to say again—not because anyone promises an answer, but because the speaking itself may become a gentle form of healing.
Inspired by wind phones from around the world, we’ll explore grief, remembrance, and the human need to remain connected. Perhaps what matters is not who—or what—is listening, but the intention with which we speak into the wind.
